Install guides

Up and running in a few steps.

Follow the guide for your device. Only install files you trust and get them from the official YapYur repository.

 iPhone / iPad

Install the “Userscripts” app from the App Store.
iPhone Settings → Safari → Extensions → Userscripts → turn it ON (allow it for websites when asked).
Open Safari.
Open the YapYur userscript gist / raw link (the page that shows the .user.js script).
Tap the Userscripts extension icon in Safari.
Tap Install Userscript (or Install).
Open https://yapper.website and refresh.
Open Yapper’s gear → YapYur → Plugins / Themes.

Plugins are off by default — turn on only what you want. If Install doesn’t show, confirm Userscripts is enabled in Settings and you’re on the gist/raw script page in Safari.

▰ Windows

Download the latest installer using the Windows button above.
Open the downloaded .exe.
Choose your Yapper install folder if prompted.
Press Install and wait for the completion message.
Open Yapper and find YapYur in its settings.

If Windows shows a security warning, only continue if you downloaded the installer from the official repository and trust the build.

⌘ macOS — Safari

Extract the YapYur Mac folder.
Install Xcode from the Mac App Store. Open it once and accept the license.
Double-click Build-Safari-Extension.command.
Open the generated YapYur-Safari-Xcode project in Xcode.
Open Signing & Capabilities and select your Apple team. Personal Team is fine.
Select the macOS target and click Run ▶.
In Safari, open Settings → Extensions and enable YapYur.
Allow access to yapper.website and yapin.gg.
Open Yapper or Yapin’ and refresh.

If macOS blocks the build script, check that you extracted the full YapYur Mac folder and follow any macOS security prompt shown. Xcode may ask you to choose your Apple ID team for local signing.

⌁ Linux — Firefox

Extract the YapYur Linux folder.
Open Firefox (or LibreWolf / Waterfox).
Go to about:debugging#/runtime/this-firefox.
Click Load Temporary Add-on….
Select manifest.json from the extracted folder.
Open yapper.website or yapin.gg and refresh.

Note: Temporary add-ons are removed when Firefox closes. Reload the add-on the same way after a restart.

What is YapYur?

YapYur is a community-made customization project for Yapper, with themes and optional plugins.

Where do platform downloads come from?

The site checks the android/, windows/, mac/, and linux/ folders in the official YapYur GitHub repository. Upload a build file there and the corresponding button will link to it.

Why does iOS use a userscript?

The iOS option opens the official YapYur userscript raw link. Install it using the Userscripts Safari extension and then refresh Yapper.

Are plugins enabled automatically?

No. Plugins are off by default, so you can enable only the ones you want from YapYur’s Plugins / Themes settings.
